1. Purpose
The ILCOR Artificial Intelligence (AI) Working Group is established to guide the responsible integration of artificial intelligence technologies in the organization's activities, particularly in evidence evaluation and other routine ILCOR processes. The group will develop a formal commission and a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) policy for the ethical and effective use of AI within ILCOR operations using the information that follows.
2. Objectives
- To evaluate opportunities and challenges associated with the use of AI in evidence evaluation, guideline development, and knowledge dissemination.
- To develop a commission and SOP policy on AI use within ILCOR.
- To ensure the application of AI tools adheres to ILCOR's standards of scientific rigor, equity, and transparency.
- To serve as a consultative body to the ILCOR Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) and Task Forces.
- To promote cross-functional collaboration and awareness of AI developments relevant to resuscitation science.
3. Membership
The Working Group will include:
-At least one representative from each ILCOR Task Force (nominated by the respective chairs).
-Members with demonstrated expertise in artificial intelligence, data science, and social media engagement.
-At least two members of the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) to ensure scientific alignment and oversight.
-Methodology working group Chair or representative
-One Board member
-Outside ILCOR individual with AI expertise
-Membership should reflect ILCOR's commitment to diversity in discipline, geography, and gender.
4. Term of Office
- Working Group member initial appointment will be for a term of three (3) years.
- Members may be reappointed for three additional one-year renewable terms, based on continued need and contribution.
The Chair of the Working Group will be appointed by the ILCOR Board for 3 years and serve 3 renewable one-year terms.
5. Reporting and Accountability
The AI Working Group reports to the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) and may provide updates to the ILCOR Board.
Deliverables will include draft policies, SOP documents, commissions progress reports, and implementation guidance.
6. Meetings
The Working Group will meet at least monthly, virtually or in person.
Ad-hoc meetings may be called by the Chair as necessary.
7. Deliverables
- Commission and SOP Policy on AI use in evidence evaluation.
- Recommendations for AI applications in other ILCOR functions (e.g., communication, administration).
- Risk-benefit and ethical analysis documents concerning AI integration.
- Transition from a Working Group to a committee
