We are delighted to share that the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) general assembly has appointed Katherine M. Berg, MD as Co-Chair. Dr. Berg is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and an Attending Physician in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Dr. Berg has served in ILCOR’s Advanced Life Support Task Force since 2014, including roles as Vice Chair (2019–2021) and Chair (2021–2023). Her research has advanced understanding of metabolic dysfunction and post-cardiac arrest care, and her systematic reviews have informed international treatment recommendations on temperature management, vasopressor use, airway management, and ultrasound during resuscitation.
Her appointment recognizes more than a decade of leadership in resuscitation science and her ongoing contributions to evidence evaluation and guideline development that shape global practice. Dr. Berg is also the first woman to serve as ILCOR Co-Chair since the organization’s establishment in 1992.
